Ask for Help

November 11, 2018

As a first time mom, it's hard to know what to expect. Friends will always give you their advice, but nothing beats the full experience. Meet Danielle.

Pregnancy isn’t what I expected it to be. I struggled a lot with the aches and pains but I knew in the end it would all be worth it, which it definitely was!

Thankfully I had a very supportive boyfriend, we’ve been together for 5 years now and yes we’re not married....yet. We’ve known for a long time we want to marry eachother and have a family and just did it backwards, oops. My due date was March 17th and I could of sworn Mason would of came before then. I went 4 days past my due date and then was induced, i felt a little guilty basically forcing my body and my baby into something it wasn’t ready for but I’m very glad I did it as he passed meconium (pooped inside me) and I spiked a fever which both indicate an infection.

Luckily there was no infection! Motherhood is something no one can prepare you for! Iv worked with babies and kids for the past 10+ years and thought I would have it all under control and I absolutely do not! Breastfeeding has been my biggest struggle but like what everyone tells me it gets easier day by day. I didn’t believe them but it seriously does! The one thing I wish someone could of prepared me for is the aftermath of having a baby. I’m not talking about the sleepless nights or endless diapers and feedings I’m talking about my physical recovery and all of the emotions and fears I would have along with it.

My advice for expecting mother’s is to not be afraid to ask for help because you will need it! Also to be open about your emotions because they will get the best of you!
